We have some exciting news! Historic Waxahachie Inc. has partnered with the Veteran’s Day reenactors, Downtown Merchants Association, Ellis County Museum, Life School and WISD to create “Operation: Hands on History” for families during the Veteran’s Day Reenactment on Saturday, November 11th. The immediate goals this year are to show the home front life during WWII; and educate both youth and adults using the history in and about Waxahachie as their canvas. HWI will host the “Operation: Hands on History” portion of this event from 1pm-5pm. Each student that participates will receive a voucher at the event. The voucher can be returned to school for campus-based incentives.
The day will be packed with fun and exciting events for the entire family, but students only need to complete “Operation: Hands on History” to earn a voucher. Some events happening that day are:
o “Operation: Hands on History” for students and families. See printable pdf document for specific instructions for each grade level.
o Meet and greet WWII veterans signing autographs.
