The 2021 Christmas Tour of Homes was a resounding success!
This year, the tour kicked off at a very unique location- the recently rehabilitated Trinity & Brazos Valley Freight House in Historic Downtown Waxahachie. Presenting a behind-the-scenes look at the historic freight house, tour-goers received a personalized walk of the magnificent building chartered in 1902 and got a sneak peek of the new brewery and pizza company that recently opened.
From there, ticketholders were encouraged to visit the four magnificent historic homes on the tour located within a short driving distance. The homes ranged from early 1900 to the 1950’s and showcased the architectural styles of various Waxahachie homes including American Foursquare (with Craftsman influences), Colonial Revival, Mission-Style bungalow, and all-American Ranch style. Each of these stunning homes decorated in different styles and fashions highlighted how historic homes can be comfortably lived by those of all ages, while also preserving the architectural and historic features that make them invaluable to preserve.
The community turned out with astounding and enthusiastic support of the 2021 Christmas Home Tour, with $10,000 in local sponsorships and countless messages of thanks, appreciation, and encouragement of an event that brings hundreds to Waxahachie’s shops, stores, restaurants, and businesses in a single weekend. Almost 600 tickets were purchased online ahead of the tour, and it was a near sell-out event with just almost 900 tickets sold!
This tour would not have been possible without the countless volunteers who helped make it possible. From over 150 incredible volunteer docents giving of their time and voice to share and tour the homes, the homeowners who graciously offered up their private haven to share it with hundreds of people they’ve never met before, and the 2021 committee (small but powerful!) and volunteers that spent tireless hours of their energy and efforts pulling the tour together in what truly seemed like a blink of an eye. We also could not have put on this year’s event without our incredible sponsors. Our city businesses continue to live by the virtuous ideal that we are indeed a community, and all in this together. We’re so grateful for your support!
Thank you all of you who visited these wonderful homes and took part in what we consider one of our favorite holiday traditions. You all shared with us your favorite things and gave us many new ideas for the future. We are looking forward to seeing you again in December 2022 with a new set of homes and attractions.
