In 1977, a small group of local citizens formed Historic Waxahachie, Inc. (HWI) because they were concerned that Waxahachie was losing areas of historic and architectural significance that make the city unique. Over the years, HWI has grown into a strong and vibrant community organization. Because of its supportive and active members, HWI is able to achieve many great things as evidenced by our accomplishments.

HWI collaborates with other groups to help “bring the history of Waxahachie to life”. HWI hosts many annual events and programs for everyone in the community to learn about Waxahachie’s history and the importance of preservation.

HWI also works on many projects that benefit the City of Waxahachie by providing new sites for tourists to enjoy when they visit our City.

Anyone who loves the City of Waxahachie and wants to ensure its history is preserved for future generations should be a member of HWI. We encourage you to join us in our efforts.

Historic Waxahachie, Inc. is fully committed to preservation of the rich historic fabric and unique identity of our historic city.
