Over 100 Historic Waxahachie, Inc. members gathered at The Graily on September 11, 2025 to mix, mingle, and participate in some “historic fun!” Food and drinks were aplenty, as members caught up with old friends, met new ones, and learned about upcoming volunteer opportunities. Attendees received a special commemorative membership pin at check-in, a brand new way for members to recognize one another in the community and share their historic passion. Throughout the evening, there were opportunities to collect raffle tickets by signing up as docents, giving feedback on things they would love to see HWI do in the future, and even answering trivia questions through the evening’s presentations! Over the course of the event, HWI Board of Trustees members shared updates on events, funding, and accomplishments for the year so far, and previewed upcoming events and opportunities for the Fall and Winter seasons. Former Board Member Becky Kauffman was also recognized for her 2025 Ruth Lester LifeTime Achievement Award by the Texas Historical Commission, for which she was nominated for by Historic Waxahachie. The evening concluded by an exciting raffle of multiple prizes from various local businesses, most over $100 in value!
A special thank you to the Membership Social Committee for making this event possible: Sarah Kennedy, Elizabeth Graves, Susan Ruebman, and Michelle Haye. Many thanks also to the evening volunteers (Grayson Haye and Taylor Kennedy), Kelsey Gamel (heavy charcuterie), Railport Brewing Company (drinks and bartending), The Flower Factory of Texas (floral arrangements), and Sweets & Desserts by: Evermore (sweet treats).
