“Operation Hands On History” Veterans Day Event

HWI is partnering for the 2nd year with the Veterans Day reenactors, Ellis County Museum, Waxahachie Downtown Merchants, and local schools to put on a “history walk” for families during Veterans Day Weekend. Students who participate will receive a voucher at the event that can be returned to school for campus-based incentives. Join us November 10th, from 1-3pm, followed by the WWII Reenactment at 3:30pm. We are so excited to be part of this event that brings in people from all over the country and educates local youth using the history in and about Waxahachie as their canvas. History hunt starts in front of the Ellis County Courthouse.

Here’s the full line-up of Veterans Day Activities in Waxahachie:

• Throughout the day: Reenactor’s camps open for public to tour in downtown Waxahachie; WWII photo exhibit at Parks & Rec building (401 S. Elm)
• 10-11am: 2018 Ellis County Veterans Ceremony​ at Waxahachie Civic Center (2000 Civic Center Ln)
• 12-2:30pm: Military vehicle display on south side of Ellis County Courthouse
• 1-3pm: Operation: Hands on History Veterans Day Event for families in downtown Waxahachie (starts at Ellis County Courthouse); Meet & greet with Veterans at Ellis County Museum, Inc.; Black Market open across from Ellis County Courthouse; Tours of the historic Ellis County Courthouse & MKT Caboose; Vintage military aircraft flyovers
• 3:30pm: WWII Battle Reenactment in downtown Waxahachie
