Congratulations to Presley Hollingsworth!
Historic Waxahachie, Inc. awarded a $1,500.00 scholarship to Waxahachie High School Senior Presley Hollingsworth. Presley wrote an essay on the importance of historic preservation to the City of Waxahachie, in which she described how historic preservation helps the city both culturally and economically. Presley will be attending Baylor University in the Fall.
Kathleen Bowen, HWI Scholarship Chair, would like to thank each student who submitted an application and wrote such amazing essays. The Scholarship Committee always has a difficult selection task because all of the students are very deserving.
Thank you to the members who serve on the Scholarship Committee: Harold Barnard, Mark Bowen, Kirk Davis, Leanne Kelley, Nancy Post and Max Simpson.
By providing this scholarship, HWI hopes that the students will remember that history is more than just reading a book and remembering dates and names. It is about personal stories and how they affect us. HWI also hopes that these students will remember the rich history of Waxahachie that will always be an important part of their lives.
Congratulations to Presley and all the 2022 WISD graduates!
